Prof. Baniel Cheung, a serial entrepreneur, and the Founder and Principal Strategist of Integral Consulting Asia Limited, stayed at the home of AYF Manabi No Sato for three weeks to give detailed, informative, and practical lectures about business strategy, DX strategy, and entrepreneurship.

Prof. Baniel explained the basic principles and strategies in business and marketing, and using his own experience as examples, described the importance and possibility of digital transformation in a variety of industries and divisions inside a company.

Digital transformation puts technology at the core of a business strategy. This approach can reduce operating expenses and inefficiency. It could even change the course of your business. It allows businesses to utilize data-based insights to transform and enhance customer experience into a more convenient and seamless process. By using data analysis, business can understand customers and competitors better, which can be useful for better decision-making.

The benefits of digital transformation are not only for customers but also for the company as it allows better unity and organization throughout the organization which will increase efficiency for business operation of all departments. The simplest example is the use of digital marketing allows a business to communicate and understand the customers more accurately. Furthermore, the use of digital tools for business administration results in the smooth and seamless operation of the business.

As the topic of entrepreneurship is also important for the fellowship programs, fellows also had opportunities to discuss entrepreneurship case studies. Moreover, Prof. Baniel introduced fellows to useful tools and methods which fellows can utilize to start a business such as Business Canvas and the design thinking process.

Business Model Canvas is a business tool for identifying all important aspects in the form of building blocks when people want to start a business, including value proposition, finance, assets, etc. Design thinking refers to procedures used by people in the process of solving an issue by using a non-linear process that people use to understand users, redefine problems, and create innovative solutions. The process involves emphasize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. Outside of the lecture time, each fellow had a one-on-one meeting to receive advice and discuss projects that fellows want to do in the future.
